Myanmar: Director-General to Express Support for Ongoing Reforms
In her first visit to Myanmar from 7 to 10 August, UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova expressed her support to the country’s democratic reforms and discuss measures to better assist authorities in addressing key priorities, including education, cultural heritage, media freedom and resilience in the face of natural disasters. During her visit, the Director-General met with President U Thein Sein, the chairperson of the National League for Democracy and Member of Parliament Aung San Suu Kyi, and all ministers linked to UNESCO’s areas of competence.
